Privacy policy
Last updated October 12, 2026 · U.S. launch
This policy describes how the operator of Lectovia ("Lectovia," "we," or "us") handles information in the app and this support site. Lectovia is intended for adults 18 and older. Contact us inside the app under Settings → Help & support.
Information you provide
Account information: email, authentication-provider identifiers, username, display name, biography, and any profile image you choose.
Community content: posts, reviews, ratings, comments, GIF choices, uploaded images, club information, public shelves, follows, saves, blocks, and reports.
Messages: the contents and participants of direct-message conversations. Messages are not end-to-end encrypted.
Support requests: your account ID, topic, messages and replies, request identifier, and submission time. Website requests also include your reply email. In-app conversations are available only to you and Lectovia’s support operator.
Your private collection
Your private collection, reading progress, and some preferences are stored on your device. Selecting books for a public shelf or attaching a book to a post shares the selected details. Private collection storage is not a cloud backup; device backups may be handled by Apple under your device settings.
Importing your book collection
When you choose a supported library CSV file, Lectovia reads it on your device. Imported records can include book identifiers and details, your reading status, dates, ratings, custom shelves, and written review drafts. You can choose whether to save ratings, custom shelves, and reviews before importing. Lectovia does not receive your Goodreads or Amazon password or connect to those accounts through this feature.
The import feature does not upload the source CSV. Imported records are stored with your private collection on this device and may be included in device backups under your Apple settings. Reviews remain private drafts unless you separately choose to publish them. Selecting a book for your public library or attaching it to a post shares only the details required by that feature.
Deleting an imported book removes its saved review draft and imported dates from the current local collection. Account deletion clears the associated local collection on this device. Neither action deletes your original CSV from Files, changes your Goodreads or Amazon account, or removes previously published posts. Device backups and copies on other devices are managed separately.
How information is used
We use information to authenticate readers; maintain profiles, clubs, messages, and posts; personalize feeds using selected interests and social activity; provide book lookup and GIF search; handle reports and support; and protect the service. Current feed personalization does not upload your private collection to build a recommendation profile.
Services and recipients
Supabase provides authentication, database, photo storage, and server functions. Account and community data are processed there.
Google and, when enabled, Apple provide optional sign-in. Lectovia receives the account information made available through that sign-in; it does not receive your provider password.
Google Books and Open Library receive book lookup requests such as titles, authors, or ISBNs. Cover images may load from their services.
GIPHY receives GIF searches and media requests, including network information such as your IP address. Its privacy practices also apply.
Our website hosting provider processes requests needed to serve this site. Infrastructure providers may maintain security and operational logs.
Other readers can see the content you publish and profile information made visible in the app. Direct messages are available to their participants and may be accessible to the operator for service or safety purposes.
We may disclose information when required by law, to address misuse, or to protect rights and safety. The current app does not include advertising or advertising-tracking SDKs. We do not sell reader information for money. External services operate under their own policies.
Permissions and network data
Camera access is used for barcode scanning. The system photo picker shares the images you select, not unrestricted access to your photo library. Uploaded images are resized and re-encoded. Network requests reveal IP addresses to their destinations. The support endpoint uses a keyed IP hash to limit repeated submissions.
Retention and deletion
Account and community records remain while needed to operate your account and the service. You can initiate deletion in Settings → Account → Delete account. Deletion removes your authentication account, profile, posts, public shelf, uploaded post photos, and direct-message conversations involving your account. Clubs you own and their discussions are also removed. Your comments in surviving discussions become unavailable placeholders so other readers’ replies can remain.
The app also removes that account’s saved collection from the current device. Copies on other devices, screenshots, shared copies, and backups are not remotely erased. Service backups and security logs may persist according to provider retention and legal requirements. Your in-app support conversations are removed with your account. Website support correspondence is separate because it is not linked to an authenticated account; use Help & support to request its access or removal.
Your choices and U.S. privacy requests
Edit profile information and visibility in the app. Manage message permissions and blocked accounts in Settings. Use Help & support to request access, correction, deletion, or an export, or to appeal a response. Depending on your state and whether a law applies to Lectovia, you may have additional rights. We may verify account ownership before acting and will not discriminate for exercising applicable rights. Authorized agents may contact us and provide proof of authority without sending passwords or identity documents in the initial request.
This site does not use advertising cookies. It does not change behavior in response to browser Do Not Track signals. If our practices change to involve activities subject to an applicable opt-out signal requirement, we will implement the required controls and update this policy.
Adults only
Lectovia is not intended for anyone under 18. Do not create an account if you are under 18. If you believe an underage person has supplied personal information, contact us so we can investigate and remove it as appropriate.
Changes
We will update the date on this page when this policy changes and provide additional notice for material changes where required. No security system is perfect; please use Help & support to report concerns without including credentials.
